Heatherdene Quarter Horses

Where it all began...

David and Jackie Teideman started Heatherdene Quarter Horses in 1990. Until this time they had been involved in breeding Race Horses. David and Jackie were determined that they wanted to be associated with horses that possesed outstanding manners and temperament. They found the unpredictability of the Thoughbred left them fustrated and did not meet their expectations.

When a friend suggested that they try a Quarter Horse to fulfill their temperament requirements, they went to Pat Dyke's to look at her stallion 'Zero Skipkeo' . David and Jackie returned to their home and after careful selection they decided to put their Thoroughbred Mare, 'Keenline' to Zero Skipkeo. The union produced four foals over the next few breeding seasons all with the temperment that David and Jackie were looking for. Once introduced to the Quarter Horse World ...they were hooked

In for a penny, in for a pound...

David and Jackie were so impressed with the Part Breds that they had produced, that they decided that the Quarter Horse was the breed that they wanted to be associated with. They decided to go to Soveriegn Quarter Horses for their first Western Riding lesson, under the watchful eye of David Deptford, to help them evaluate and understand this remarkable breed. David Deptford introduced them to Chris and Irene Pryce and it was this introduction that would lead to the purchase of their first Pure Bred Mare 'Silversox Skipkeo'

Sox, as she is known, turned out to be the best move that David and Jackie had made in the short time that they had been involved with Quarter Horses. She has proved highly successful in the show ring. Winning many Championships and going on to become a Superior Halter Horse. She is thought, to be the first British bred mare to have achieved this outstanding accolade. Outside of the arena, she has also produced two outstanding foals, 'Snip's Silver Dene' now owned by Samantha Bryce and 'Kay Cee Dene' who David and Jackie continue to show at Halter.
