Formed in 1985 by a small group of enthusiasts who wished to take Western Horsemanship away from the "Movie Cowboy" image and place it firmly in its rightful place . . . another highly skilled equestrian discipline alongside the other horse disciplines in the British Isles. It was felt that not only would many other riders enjoy this style, but that riding schools would be willing to add it to their curriculum if the Society were to achieve those aims.
