Bruce works a lot with complete beginners and some that do not ever want to compete. I had not ridden western before going to Bruce and now, four years on, do compete and feel really good about my riding. I also like hacking out and nothing is nicer than a well trained horse for that!

Just got back from a 3 hour hack that was so relaxing having a horse that goes past everything and that I trust and she trusts me. Even when we had to ride through a huge flock of geese!!

He trains my horse for ME to ride and that is what is important. Clinics are great for young horses to get used to others in with them and Bruce does not push the horse or rider beyond what they feel comfortable with. Give him a ring and I'm sure he can answer any questions before you book.

In Scotland there is Kayreen Jones, who is lovely and very helpfull, Martina von Gehlen who i think i have only met once but is very nice as well. and Lucia Boase, who also runs a trekking centre and she is a lovley person as well, i found her very useful i had my first western lesson with her on a little horse called Brad

Thanks for the feedback on Bruce - I had suggested him to this owner innitially so I will tell her about the clinic dates and that he is so well recommended by your guys. I'll try and find out some more details on the Scottish instructors - though I know Lu is too far away from us as she is up near Oban.

I can also be very positive about Bruce - I am a novice at western and my mare has just had her third western lesson (all 3 or which have taken place in the last week!! ), 2 of those were with Bruce and I am absolutely thrilled with the fast progress she/we have made! He made it really clear about what we were trying to achieve, and how we should go about getting there - I wouldn't have any concerns about level of either horse or rider with Bruce as a teacher.
