I get to ride many horses, including a world class bred reiner (Topsail Whiz/Smart Chic Olena), who will always produce results, a superb Appy (who has taught me more about riding than any trainer).

However there is a special horse to which I have connected to in a way that far surpasses any human friendship I have enjoyed. He is a 5 year old 14 hand Buck Skin out of Nu Chex.

This little fella has reminded me what riding is about, I will be showing him next year and it does not matter if I win any BR or NRHA event, because to me this super little horse will always be a winner. Every time I ride him, I walk away with a sense of purpose. He alike me have many things that need to improve.

He is ultimately my four legged friend, the relationship I have with Pee Wee is worth a thousand blue ribbons. I hope other people can relate to this, this is what western riding is about

I have to completly agree with my paint mare,Little Smoke Signal. She pulls horrible faces at people with ears flat back and if she senses your worried she'll make the most of it. She's cut my daughter and my husband away from me when poo pickin and she'll keep my other mare away from me... she follows me around with head low while i'm poo pickin and we have plenty of conversations... she plays with my electric fencing and when on she'll take the posts out... she plays with the hose and loves gettin me wet,no matter what the weather!!! she unties herself when i've just tacked her up and then enjoys a game of how quick can i move. I rode her to the beach for the first time and she insisted that i went in the water first!!!! The first and only wes show we did while the class was on their first lap of "jog" we were on third and tracking up for extended trot, she bucked in practice and did the trail in 20 seconds only to say that when it came to going home she didn't want to!
I've cursed quietly and out loud, she's made me cry but the most she's made me laugh, she knows when i'm down and gives me a hug and our time spent together on long hacks are brilliant.
I've had her for sale but to no aveil as my family say "she's destined to stay with me for life"... she's a one to one horse and a doberman on longer legs...
BUT..... I LOVE HER

I owned a really sweet Highland Pony whom I loved dearly, he was soo human it was scary, I planned to do western riding with him when he got older but sadly it wasn't to be and we lost him to illness, I thought I'd never get over him, he was my very best friend....

Enter Lil Tee O Peppy my husbands quarter horse we purchased him as a yearling and have watched him grow to the two year old Diva he is now. This is the horse that never gets dirty !!! He manages to lay in his stable without creasing his rug or getting poo on him, if the field is muddy...Peppy aint...if you don't groom him for at least 1/2 hour he will sulk and if you forget to brush his forlock he will pound the nearest surface or throw your brushes until you do it. In the field he will glady show you every move he has every time you turn up(quite handy given my husband wants to do reining), he too has no time for passers by his stable, he will grimace and pull an arrayment of faces.....He is the ultimate diva and far removed from my little highlander but I love him dearly.....

I had my own little quarter horse filly for a a while but I had to sell her because I am pregnant but I hope to buy another 'Diva' next year when baby is a little older...who knows I might even be brave enough to enter the western pleasure classes I keep seeing at shows !!!!

Congratulations!
On the pregnancy and the super horses!

There is nothing in the world quite like a horse - The way they make you feel, and the depth of the love they litterally pull out of you - Its a feeling you only understand when it happens to you. My friend has just bought her first horse, despite having ridden all her life, and she suddenly gets why I cant have a conversation without bringing up my two boys, because she now cannot have one without bringing up her boy!

Right, I am off to get whinnied at, trampled on, then made to feel guilty for leaving for work!!
