Hi Guys
After over 20 years of english riding I am now a western convert. I started having lessons and decided to buy a youngster to work with. I have just called the western trainer and my boy will soon be going off to "school" which I am really excited about BUT I need to think about some tack. He is a 14.3 - 15hh Appaloosa and is rising 4. I have spoken to the guy that I have bought him from and he said that he has been ridden in a Wintec and also a reining saddle but looking on some of threads here it seems like purchasing a Wintec isn't as straight forward as it seems as the ones from the US are different to those sold on ebay and in catalogues like Robinsons.
Can anyone help?????

Get a saddle fitter to check your horse! Be prepared for him to change shape, you will no doubt end up having several saddles before he finishes maturing and filling out with work. If cost is a problem, choose a good quality treeless saddle which will accomodate his changing shape. Your trainer may be against this type of saddle. However i know of many riders who are converted to treeless, for different disciplines. No worries about fitting, pressure points or soreness. Barefoot and Bob Marshall Sports saddles are the two types I have had experience of, both are excellent.Alternatively, find a good saddle fitter, with a range of good second hand saddles, who is willing to PX.
Good Luck, enjoy your appy.
