Which western boots do you ride in/recommend? 2007/05/17 20:08 Karma: 0
I've been doing a bit of research into western riding boots. From what I can gather makes Justin and Lucchese appear to be among the most popular with a good selection available on Ebay. I've been looking for a pair of ladies and mens boot which are sturdy and suitable for everyday riding. Can you all let me know which brands you buy and which you really recommend to be the best?? All advice welcome before we go splashing out on boots that may not be up to the job

I ride in Justin (crepe sole). Very comfortable and sit well in the stirrup. Will probably get another pair soon 8)

Twisted X.  Very tough boots, which hubby swears by (David Gray).  He lives in them.  Rides in them, goes out in them, has used them as wellies, done plastering in them - the lot. Twisted X sponsor him but only because he loves the boots.  They have lasted longer than any other boots he has had.

I love my Ariat boots! got a few pairs, like the lace up ones that come up to the ankle. my oldest pair are now 8 yrs old and have been worn whilst mucking out aet and riding and are still fine and sturdy! got a nice thick sole and really comfortable for riding and walking. a few of my riding pals now wear them too and are v. pleased!

Causes much debate in our house.
Like Amanda, i love my Ariats - look out for their ropers which are hard to track down in the UK. I wear them for work as well as riding, so they're used for anything from test driving tractors to attending smart foreign trade shows (I once had to wash them in the bathroom sink of a five star hotel in Warsaw!)
But Ariats do seem to suit narrower feet, so that's worth bearing in mind.

Husband swears by his Justins, but has an ancient and cherished pair of Laredos, which are even harder to find.

There is certainly more choice in the UK now, and its worth a good browse around the stands at shows rather than paying postage and duty from the states.
