Hi,

I've yet to see a stetson style hard hat that would meet modern safety standards (being an A&E consultant you won't catch me on a horse without a decent hard hat - I see too many people with squashed brains to want to take any additional risks!) but Troxel have just brought out a new hard hat specifically designed for western showing - the Cheyenne. Although quite obviously a safety hard hat (it doesn't try to be a stetson!) it has a spot of bling and looks very smart.

Incidentally, the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund have got their 2006 ENHAP results up rating different hats - lightweight ventilated ones do very well - worth a look:

Cheers,

Linda

Many thanks for the positive 'wear a hat' message.

I remember a shaped hat cover that fitted over a jockey skull, but it was a while ago & may have looked very silly.

Hi all

Thanks for your input! I have had a look at the sites mentioned and at a few other sites but still can't find them. The judge of the southern counties western riding club was apparently wearing one at the show a few weeks ago so i will see if i can track her down and ask her!

If anyone comes across them in the mean time please let me know!
