And why has the venue been lost?
Maybe through low numbers attending (and lets face it, indoor owners need to earn a living too, and jumpers and dressage get more attendees = more food sold etc etc etc.).

Which brings me back to negative comments are very off putting to people esp new folk and this then reduces numbers, thus reduces events.

I have known and helped many novice western riders over the years and the general reason for stopping competing are the negative comments.

Ok, you may say, 'grow a tougher skin'. but at these lower levels encouragement is needed, not negativity.

And I look forward to you attending other clinics at my yard, if it ever gets up and running.

I think we should keep directive opinions about individual trainers, especially those with many years more experience than ours, off open forums.

Bruce has his area of strengths, especially in delivering clinics. David Lloyd will also no doubt be a good clinician (I dont have first hand knowledge). Although outspoken at times I think that we should allways try and look for the positives to promote the western industry, oh and sorry as a pertinant point, having seen evidence of Bruce clearing amazingly difficult cross country obstacles on horses with much more free will than your average western horse. I would challenge the question as regards his ability to work with a horse trained by a part time amateur.

Gem please dont take it personally. I am also a part time amateur.

I know a lot of these guys including Bruce and I have seen their ability first hand when it comes to dealing with problem horses. Most of the time the real problem is not the horse but the rider (and that includes me).

Be happy respect all opinions and support the positives. As regards your age, I have no issue with youngsters, hey most of you can easily outride us middle aged folk.
