Finally got the answer I was waiting for, sort of. For me to have my trainer ride my horse I do have to get an NRHA membership for $60 good to the end of this year only as well as all the BR licenses.

They have kindly offered to sort out my BR membership and competition license at the show BUT I will have to apply for the NRHA membership in the USA BEFORE the show. There is no time to do this and I am not willing to pay that kind of money for one or two runs. No wonder nobody wants to help support British Reining!

Does make me re-think about joining and supporting them next year, may just stick with AQHA and WES. I was willing to pay for the years membership with BR and the BR competition license but adding the NRHA to this is not possible.

Can I ask why all the red tape????

I can understand your issue with joining NRHA for just one show that has no NRHA classes, and if this is correct then BR need to seriously look at why they are not getting new members. It certainly does not seem right.

As regards timing NRHA can turn a membership and Comp licence around in a couple of days using their rush service, you receive a fax or email confirmation of both.

There are still plenty of NRHA shows accros the water.

It's a pity that you did not make your way throuh the BR website to the Champ show schedule.
All of the membership requiremnets for this show have been fully explained there. To me it reads quite plainly and designed to encourage green as grass and rookies without penalising them with unreasonable charges.

In fact the reining clinic on the Friday is heavilly subsidised from the training grant we receive from the Worshipful Company of Saddlers to make it as affordable as possible and you don't even have to be a member of BR to join in.
Where else would you get an all day clinic for £35.....??

Go along and have a try.

Just on a more obvious note:

Why can't your 'trainer' advise you of this content. Surely if he/she is a proffessional, he should know all this??

I did read all the requirements, it says nothing about having to be a member of NRHA. The Green as Grass and have a go is good, if you are the one riding the young horse, this has never been my complaint.

My trainer did know all the facts and was the one who told me to double check about the NRHA mambership (even though that is not listed on the entry form). He made lots of calls on my behalf and I took it forward to try and get a firm answer that took several days, lots of emails and this forum. He also said he ran into the problem at another show as it was not mentioned before he got there and had already entered the classes (they did get it sorted but that is why he told me to check again about the NRHA membership). This is not his responsibility, it is mine, to have all the papers in order. He has been a great help.

To quote from the entry form:

"Owners and exhibitors must be members of British Reining (membership can be purchased at the show) If horses do not have an NRHA Competition license they will need to apply for a BR one (application for this needs to made before the show)"

This is what made me try to find out about getting a BR license, knowing I was not going to enter the green as grass.

It was only last night that I finally got a reply telling me I have to also be a member of NRHA. The entry form only asks for the the BR number for owner, exhibitor and horse. No where is NRHA even mentioned except to say if you do not have their license get a BR one.

To me this does not read quite plainly in regards to the NRHA membership.

As I stated before, I only checked into the show as I thought I was going to be able to compete her in the AQHA classes, but now that is not going to happen.

It will be a good opportunity to go to one of these clinics some date in the future after the horse if more show trained, but it surely does not help me now.

Who has told you that you have to be an NRHA member, because that contradicts my understanding of competing in BR shows. I am not saying you are wrong, indeed I may of misunderstood this as did a member of council I asked yesterday.
