Dont aspire to it, just go up there and have a go. Reining is about running the pattern, start slow and just ride correct.

I would like to join the BR but it seems I have to pay full fees - BR, NRHA, competition license, and Non-pro declaration just to go to one show! That is if I want to take my young horse and have the trainer ride her. I will be attending the show to enter the AQHA Breed Show Classes and thought she might have a go at the BR classes, but that will be much to expensive as all the memberships will expire on 31st December this year! So I might as well wait until next year and get some use out of my memberships unless I can just join the BR and get a BR competition license for this show only.
Anyone have any ideas?? NRHA say I have to pay the full years membership fees to get a competition license, but why make it so difficult for the last show of the season here. No wonder people are reluctant to join with the membership fees so high and not many competitions to enter.
Would appreciate some advice from all you reiners out there. Time is running short and the BR membership person is away on holiday.

hi qhrider, did you realise that the competition licence is a once only cost for your horse. can you not ride your horse in green as grass with the help of your trainer? and then you do not have to pay for full membership until next year. rosie

You dont need a competition licence for the green as grass classes.
So it is well worth entering these classes this year and then join BR next.
I do believe that you dont have to join NRHA as well as BR, but you do have to join BR for NRHA membership.
Also I think you can get a BR Comp licence for about a tenner.

hi bwizz, i think the br/nrha membership is now all in one at the beginning of the year. i think the best option is for qhrider to do green as grass for this show first and then join next yr. rosie

I understand about the green as grass, but I was not going to ride my horse this year (she is only three), so do need a comp license. I do know that you only pay once, but you have to be a member to apply for the license.
I just need to know where to apply for the BR license as it is not listed on the BR website. I had always planned to join next year, but with having to go all the way to David's place now for the AQHA Breed Show Classes, thought I might as well try and enter her in some of the BR classes as well.
So what I really am asking is how to get the BR comp license, as this has to be done BEFORE the show. I will join the BR to do this and wait until next year to join the whole mess of memberships!!
If this gets too complicated, may just do the original classes and for get the whole thing until January!!
