Not exactly new news ...but I just read on the QH2000 site that the new surface at Arena UK is not suitable for Reining...

As a previous organiser of AQHA shows I know what a job it is to find suitable surfaces for all disciplines. This is a problem that is only going to get worse as the established arenas are resurfaced with the latest 'High Tech' materials to make them safer for their main activities e.g show jumping.

We need a purpose built INDOOR arena that has a good surface for reining and I don't see it coming from the mainstream establishments. I know of a project that is about to be started next month so we just might be getting one!!!

Yep! I can... The new faciilty is going to be at Sovereign Quarter Horses in Cambridgeshire, David and Sarah Deptford have been working hard over the last year or so planning this and construction starts in May.. here's a taster...and it going to be BIG and I mean BIG.

Arena: 100ft wide x 200ft long with fantastic ideal reining surface.
General Facilites: Cafeteria : wc's: showers: disability access and facilities and more...you will have to wait for...

A new Sovereign Quarter Horse website coming in a couple of weeks will include more details and construction diary with pictures of this purpose built (for Western) arena. I am working with them to provide a complete on-line service for SQH, including booking and payment for lessons, clinics, arena hire and much more via the site...

Certainly is exciting stuff, Brew and not too far away for us. The South East/Midlands seems to do quite well for Western Shows and suitable venues - it must be difficult for those from some other parts of the UK however.....

It's a fact that there is a higher density of registered QH's in the east anglia region than the rest of the country... however there seems to be more activity further south.

Suffolk, so I must be one of those QH statistics for East Anglia, and Yes I really should update my profile!
