I think the showcase is a fantastic idea and I'm hoping there will be lots of youngsters to view. It's a great way for buyers to see how they are 'out' rather than just viewing in a field, especially for those of us buying for temperament and not so interested in bloodlines. There seems to be quite a few people still trying to sell yearlings, ie weanlings that didn't sell last year and this could be a great way to get the visibility you need.

Agreed, we were just saying the other day it would be good to have this type of thing over here.

All things being equal, we will be there with Arrow (unless he is snapped up first ) and possibly another if we really get our act into gear

thank you for the vote of confidence, this is an idea I have been toying with for a while. Adverts have been placed in Horse deals, Horse and Hound etc and hopefully serious buyers will come along to view/ buy. If all goes well it will be something I would like to expand on for next year. I know it is not an auction as such but each horse will get an individual introduction (written by owner) into the arena and a chance to show of the horse, before joining the others. Once all horses are in the arena, buyers will be invited in to talk to trainers/ owners and a designated area and time slots will be allocated in the indoor to further show of / try the horse. All horses must be pre entered so that we can allocate time slots. In all other breeds you can attend sales events in this country, but not Quarter Horses or western disipline sales. Hopefully we will get great support. If any one has any brill ideas to make this even better I am listening. Lita

As the horses will be pre-entered, perhaps you could publish something simple online, just giving brief details of the horses on view? This would enable buyers (or at least those of us in the wes community who would know where to find the information) to have some idea in advance of what will be on view and identify what we want to see. You might find that buyers will travel specifically to see just one horse they like the sound of because they will be able to see it out and about.

I think that's an excellent idea of Scotty's, especially for those who have to travel long distances. It may make the difference in deciding whether to attend or not. A simple photo to accompany the description would whet the appetite! Well done,Lisa, for deciding to put on this event.

I think this is a fantastic idea and long awaited in this country.

With the right advertising, which seems to be all in hand,the right venue and timing, which again seems to be ideally handled, I am hoping this could set a trend.

Wouldn't it be nice perhaps to have a Spring and Autumn sale each year that people can aim for to sell their quality stock.

All of us are having a hard time this year finding the right buyers at the right price for our youngstock/older stock.

I have a two year old which everything being okay will be attending.

Living in West Wales is always a big barrier for people to come and see my stock, there are a lot of good breeders normally between me and them!

If I can bring good horses and have them shown off and tried in a more reachable venue for the majority of people I am all for it.

Well done, an innovative idea which hopefully should prove successful.

As suggested it would be nice to have some sort of 'on-line catalogue' before the date - just as a teaser and give us some idea and time to do the necessary grovelling motions with the bank/other half/childs piggy bank.
