Sidepull bridel 2006/05/01 21:12 Karma: 0
Hi all. My name is Rachael and am new to ths site today. I have 2 horses an appaloosa mare and a TB x Cleveland bay. I currently ride my appaloosa Sienna in a rope hackamore but am looking to move into a sidepull - anyone have any comments - i.e. are sidepulls suitable for hacking etc. Are they available in the uk?

i am looking at start western riding with my mare (the appaloosa) anyone know of any classes in the south yorkshire area - i am in sheffield.

Any help welcome i am looking for something to expand her repetoire.

Thanks

Rachael

Hi, I'm new today as well!! I ride my 4yo arab in a sidepull after starting her in a rope halter then a headcollar and lead ropes. The best ones are from US off e-bay. She did bolt with me after taking exception to some very large lumps of concret and although it was hairy I think it was easier to get her under control by bending to a stop (eventually) than pulling on a bit. I do school in a bit was still ride in a sidepull as well.

thanks for that - very interesting. Have you got any make of sidepull in particular off ebay?
How did you find the transition from a rope halter to sidepull - did your mare take to it naturally?

Hi Rach, she was fine in the sidepull. I have got a lovely leather one with, I think they call it 'grass' noseband. I think with postage it worked out about ?20. English sites charged about ?60.00!!
Will have a quick look to see if I can see one.
