Hi guys,
Have any of you heard of the "Extreme Cowboy Race". It started as a multi event challenge where people showed their horses competence in carrying out evry day ranch horse tasks and, of course, their own horsemanship skills. It has developed into a timed arena event, probably due to the influence of TV, and is an exciting spectacle.
We at the UKRHA, see links page, are seriously considering putting on such an event and would really like to know what you, the western fraternity, think about it?
If you go to www.horsecity.com home page, scroll down to the bottom left and click on watch extreme cowboy. All the programs in the series are available to view for free and make good western watching.
Please take a look and let me know if it is something you would be interested in trying?

Cowboy.

Hi Bob, loved it. Glad to see a golden oldie among the competitors and the different levels of skill. It looked loads of fun. My problem would be getting on and off! Wish it would stop raining or blowing a gale so we can get on with things.

Hi Jo,
I agree it looks like great fun and anyone can have a go on any type of horse and do well? I think personally that the speed element is a bit risky and would prefer to reward good horsemanship on a horse that shows a willing attitude.
If set up correctly, I think it could be a very interesting and challenging event.
I'm sick of the winter already, bring on the spring?

Well that sorts out the abysmal lack of things to watch on tv.........

It could well be very interesting and is very spectator friendly.....bring it on (oh and the less wet weather....note I didn't dare mention the 's' word)

Agree about the tv! I've got the site in my favourites and know where to go to miss the adverts. How sad it that!

Hi All
Now that Bob has started the topic, you may be interested to know that I have started talks with our local council, to use a cross country course in Northampton, they are very keen to see this.
The idea would be to use part of the course for this event, maybe over one or two days to start,a one day event would be the way to go, however give some feed back and we will arrange an event for later in the year.
