Is there western riding in kent? 2008/02/29 13:17 Karma: 0
Hi, I am looking to learn western riding, I already have a tiny bit of experience western and pleanty english. Unfortunately I cannot travel far and am looking for training in the maidstone area. I am not fussy if its proffesional lessons or private and am willing to chip in with costs and the mucky work if someone is experinced in western riding and dosent mind taking me on. I dont have my own horse (yet) but am looking to loan one soon. I have western tack on order (bieng hopeful!)
Please can anyone help? Sarah

Hi
I live in Ashford and have lessons at a ranch in Dartford, Bar S - 01474 707 330.
Ask for Stuart or Lesley and tell them that Kelley & Craig recommended.
If you would like to know more email me kelley.boother@sbjuk.com

Hi, I appreciate your input however I cannot drive and would have problems getting to Dartford. I don’t suppose you know of anywhere else maybe?

I know that there is someone around maidstone area but I don't think they teach on their own horses for insurance reasons.

If you wanted to go to Bar S then hubby and I go on a Sunday and now the weather is better we will hopefully go at least twice a month. You are more than welcome to jump in with us.

Not sure how it would work as there are only 2 instructors but some of the time it is just practice riding and you won't be with an instructor anyway.

Lessons are £30 an hour (but they always run well over an hour and they don't charge you any more)

The first lesson involves the basics such as roll backs, turns, backing up, barrells, gates etc.

Bar S is actually a working cattle ranch and Stuart founded the BRCA. There is an article on this site about it link: http://www.thewesternshop.com/component/option,com_bookmarks/Itemid,394/task,detail/id,23/

Shame you can't drive as I have just bought a 4 yr old Appaloosa that I will be sending away to have western trained and it would have been good to have ridden together.
