I just want to learn western! 2007/12/18 21:03 Karma: 0
Hi Everyone

Ive been trying to learn western for years and was over the moon when i found a trainer in devon (I live in exeter half the year and oxford the other half) I was so excited but after one lesson my trainer had to quit for personal reasons. Now I have the bug but no one to train me in either oxford or Devon, I dont have my own horse as I wanted to buy one after mastering western. If anyone could help me in any way please let me know!

Thank you

Tilly

Good luck in your search for a credible western trainer with a lesson horse. They are like gold dust. It's alright having centres of excellence if those same centres have lesson horses; otherwise it will only ever be open to those fortunate people who have a decent horse that can also be taught western. I say that as someone who does have access to a western horse, but I think unless more trainers invest in lesson horses, it will be very difficult to attract new people to western riding.

I really hope that someone on here can help you out as it is a great way to ride.

I have exactly the same problem - live in exeter and my trainer has now moved away (were you using Harmony too?!)
I have heard there is a stud Okehampton way which does lessons...
Do you have a horse you want to have western lessons on? Myabe we could book the mendip in advance and share travel costs?!
Us Western minority have gotta stick together!!
