Hi All

Thank you to everyone who replied to my earlier post!

I have managed to find a new Western Riding Safety Hat that is being brought out by Troxel in April 2008!!

Here is the link if anyone is interested!

I was able to view these hats in January and they are a step in the right direction.

However, from an aesthetical point of view the material of the hat isn't great and the safety hat beneath does make it a bulky.

So I still think that it is compromise, safety v's 'western silouette'.

I didn't look into how much the would retail at over here so i'm not sure if the price would be comparable to any other safety hat.

I think that Troxell should be applauded for making the progress they have and I'd be interested to hear people's opinions.

Excellent, that's real progress. Thanks so much for the tip off, talk about hot off the press!

I'll certainly try to have a look at them when I'm next in the States - hopefully October - if I don't see one around the UK before then.... will then decide which looks less silly with western show gear!

hiya I ordered and received a Troxel riding hat in tan as it looked more western but sent it back as it perched rather high on my head looked like a real egg head! Interested in their new line though will watch this space - think everyone would like a safety western hat rather than our English design don't you!

When I worked in Canada, I felt really weird not wearing a safety hat so I borrowed one for the duration of my time there. It provoked some sniggers from fellow "cowboys".....but hey....you only get one head!

These hats look pretty good. I'm sure I saw western safety hats in Western Cowboy Magazine years ago but never managed to find them again.

I've got a nice horse, a nice saddle and pad,my nice jeans and a nice top....but from the neck up it all goes wrong with a champion helmet it all goes North (beats South for a change!) and my western look goes right out the window!

Many thanks for the interesting info
