Madam has found another way to stress me out.
Our yard has swapped the turnout fields around to try and save the gateways so madam is going out in a field that she is not that familiar with. However, she is with her favourite field companions so she is happy in that respect.
There is a wide drainage ditch in the field and on Sunday she leapt it like a racehorse when she was turned out.
Apparently on Monday, she had jumped into a neighbour's field, and not realising, one of the grooms called her, only for her to jump back into her own field, over a 3ft 6in post and rail.
There's a reasonable amount of grass in the field and plenty of space in the unlikely event that one of the other mares had chased her.
She is ridde five days a week and had plenty of variety - hacking, going off for lessons and being schooled at home.
How do I keep my little monster out of trouble? Or do I cut my losses and aim for hunter-hack classes!!!?

Soooo - exactly HOW high have you been raising those trail poles recently??? Methinks Madam is just demonstrating her astounding versatility - not only can she put up with playing a moving buffer to Tommi-the-not-quite-pleasure-horse and put our pleasure efforts to shame, but can pick her legs up to such great heights - reckon you should be aiming at Hunter Hack, personally - or BSJA!

I think a ball and chain is called for!

a few years ago we tried to get our reining/all around horse to do jumping without success. he just wasn't interested, so we were surprised to learn that he jumped out of his field last summer to join other horses!! mind over matter i think!

One of our mares has recently (I think) learnt to jump as a result of being in a field with a mare who jumps out for fun.....Arrow jumped a wheel barrow and a bale of hay from a standing start to exit his stable when he wasn't supposed to......oh dear I don't bounce any more
