I was going to keep out of this discussion, but as cobs are getting a hard time too

, I will have a little say.
Guess what folks, the most popular miscomception about cobs is they are for novicies!!!

I think not. I have owned several over 22 yrs,all have been well manered for me

. They have not been quiet(and for those who know my Elliott will know what i mean!). People think they are so steady, but many have attitudes like TB's, are rather sensitive until they switch off or get bolshy from inconsistant handling and will not be pushed around, and when they are, they (rightly so ) get bolshy. They are a living animal too and I know if someone pushed me around they would get a hard time back

, and no, I would not be good for a novice rider too if I was an horse. I have no experience with criollos, but rfrom reading they sound like wonderful horses.
In my opinion, as long as a horse has correct conformation, the right attitude for the person who owns/rides it it really does not matter what breed it is. Personally I prefer cobs and natives. that is my preference. If I could not find what I wanted in the Uk, yes Iwould lok further away and import. A few years ago when I was looking for another horse, I looked at QH's, but decided not to spend so much money on a breed that has so many numbers world wide, but to help the Fell pony who is on the endangered list. There is no reason my girl cannot do everything a QH or criollo can do. She has good conformation, is very intelligent and is the right size for a short arse person like me!

My Fell is chilled out and about and I can do all sorts with her (she as not been ridden yet as she is still a baby). Like with my cob, as I get more confident, so does he, and I can do much more with him too.
So basically, lets all stop being touchy about where, when why and what breed we own, where we buy them from etc, and get on with enjoying a great sport on the horses we al like and enjoy, coz it would be a boring old world if we all agreed with eachother and only rode one type of horse.
Edited to add: puts tin hat on and runs for cover!!!!
