I Guess when you total up the purchase price and the cost of shipping and then assess the value for money then it is a buyers decision. I know you can buy a great QH in Wyoming for $2000 that will do almost anything you want. However "Grade" horses are even better and can be picked up for half that. Interestingly mares fetch far less than geldings.

I do know of someone who imported to the UK several QHorses from Montana I believe and though becuase he saw them living out here in -30c temperatures without coats he could do the same in England. When I saw them they were about 200lb light and had rainscald like you have never seen. Why spend all that money to waste good livestock?

Hi, just adding my voice. I won't condemn Gem for her indiscretions - she admits to being a youth rider and at college in her profile. Tell me what college or uni student doesn't have strong opinions - right or wrong!

Of course it is very indiscreet and unwise to air them so forcefully on this forum, but we all live and learn! Don't bear a grudge Laura - time and experience will deliver the required lessons to this individual - she may turn out to be perfectly OK in the end!

Gem- you really should think before you post. The fact that you like cobs is great, personally love them as well - there are some stunners at my yard and they are all lovely and very well behaved .

The issue was that the OP said that we criollo owners shouldnt be buying criollos, but instead ,should get ourselves a cob - a ridiculous suggestion as these two breeds are nothing alike.

For you to then go on and personally attack a member of this forum is incredibly foolish - but as others have said, you are young, you are obviously naive as well.

Whatever your thoughts on criollos (and yes you are entitled to your own opinion) its extremely offensive and ill advised to make generalised comments such as "all criollos have appalling conformation and bad feet" . As someone else pointed out - the western world is a small community and slurs like that will not be forgotton easily.

Crikey, this forum is getting very heated over the past few weeks, hmm, not sure if its a good or bad thing. Makes for entertaining reading anyway. I havent really much of interest to add. I think Gem needs to curb her posting enthusiasm and quit directing comments deliberately at people on the forum, its a small community and comments like that may well bite her on the ass one day. She also sadly, displays her lack of knoweldge and ignorance. If the horse quoted as doing a 16km ride is the one in the polo pic he looks in fine condition, polo ponies are pretty darn fit and tend to look pretty lythe ( we have two on our yard)
I think there is room enough in this country for every shape size and breed of horse. Personally I have a huge irish cob who i reckon is drop dead gorgeous, I also drool over the likes of Snippers and Hobby ( at sovereign) and a great looking appy or criollo can give anything a run for its money.
Live n let live and let this forum return to the helpful and friendly site it was.
