We've used a recipe from here sucessfully for a couple of summers-well it feels like longer as midges seem to be around for ever-
combined with stop itch and avoiding peak midge times in the field.
I have not managed to copy it but it's at the bottom with cider vinegar, skin so soft and citronnella. At least buying citronella is not embarassing!
I think different things suit different horses just like some stuff suits some people and not others. Good luck.

Use the Microtek spray - I have used it on my itchy filly who has now got a tail again.

This is the same stuff we used on the wound area when Sissy was injured - it is really good stuff and it works!!

hi try using camrosa it works on all sorts of problems ,, will post phone number later it is great for tail rubbing ect flys hate it hope this helps,,
