Sovereign fun show 2008/08/05 07:39 Karma: 0
Did anyone go at the weekend?

I really wanted to go, but my driver (Dad!) was busy so i didn't have transport (i don't have my trailer licence).

I'm definately going to try & go to the next one, i've written it on the calendar already so that nothing else can be booked for that day!

On the Sovereign website there is one on 14 Sept but in the show write up & the Aug schedule there is no mention of that one, just the Oct show??

i thought that about the dates too. i wasnt sure if it was just that it was only the aug and oct one was a chance to win the ranch holiday and the sept wasnt. hence it not being mentioned. or if they have now scratched the sept one. its still on the website. could email/phone and ask?

But anyway - i went and watched. Didnt take my horse as i wanted to see what it was like first. plus its a long way to go for me (and i was thinking about money)

But it was well turned out. lasted forever and didnt finish until 7ish! it seemed quite relaxed and enjoyable and there were quite a lot of paints/QHs but also a few other types. they did go-rounds for classes that looked even slightly too big so that was good. not too many horses in one space racing round! (as thats my phobia!). Not sure if thats the ludges choice though in which case it depends who is judging next time.

The only thing i did think was - being it was a fun show, i'd expect less of the bigger riders there. and although there wasnt many compared to the usual amount you get, there were still odd ones and it seemed unfair on the novices.

But i'd certainly take my horse.

Just been back onto Sovereign website & it says that the Sept show has had to be cancelled

Nevermind theres always Oct!

Sounds good Dingbat.
So do you think you'll be ready for Oct?!

I sometimes think that about some of the 'big' riders that enter novice WES classes when their horses enter open classes at AQHA shows, but i guess thats just the rules!

All in all it was a pretty good day

Thats a shame. But guess there is always october. that'll prob be pretty much the last show round here?

dont thin i'll ever be ready in my mind. if i wait for perfection then i'll never go! but i at least feel now that i'm not dangerous and can be let loose in public! so he could manage an outing this year. Friend is trying to persuade me to go to the WES champs but its not cheap!? need to decide like this week though being entries are about to close.

i think the rules are bizarre. novice should mean novice. or at least they should have a class lower than novice for the useless people! (maybe i'd be in it on my own though!? lol).

Well done jjessky! Which one were you?

Thanks Dingbat.

I was in the walk jog pleasure, the rider with a mouth like the sahara, I was so scared. I was dressed in black with a shiny waistcoat on an orange(chestnut) horse.

I am a definate novice although the horse is definatley not. Very glad i did it though, am ready for the next one now lol.
