I am trying to get my outfit together for showing my appy filly and I'm stuck on footwear.

I want some boots that I can show in hand with and ride in later.

They need to be black, I already have 2 pairs of western boots (that don't go anywhere near horses, they are far too nice!) but they are both the wrong colour, I need black, but I don't want to buy 2 pairs if I can help it.
I am not sure I could spend all day on my feet and run with a youngster in my western boots, although they would look better for ridden work, would I get away with some roper looking boots for ridden classes (mostly trail, maybe a few others if I felt brave)?

I tend to stick with Ariat footwear as they are the only brand I have found that don't rub my feet to pieces (typically, expensive as well).
I have a pair of zip glaciers that I love, would they be suitable for in hand and ridden? they have a rounded toe so look like a roper. I can ride and run in these (although mine are brown,so would have to buy a black pair)

Although lots of people ride western in 'english' style ariats, I don't find them very comfortable in a western stirrup. A heavier sole such as the crepe on a roper gives you more support and stability.
Ariat and Justin both do black roper boots and Western Scene sell the Justin ones. I'm an ariat fan too, and was lucky enough to get some really nice black Ariat ropers with the Cobalt soles in the USA. Worth a look on the web at Sheplers etc - even with the import duty might be cheaper than buying in the UK.
The one thing that's virtually impossible to get tho - even in the USA is NICE black spur straps. Don't know why!

Don't know if I am allowed to post links on here or not (let me know if I'm not and I will remove it!)
But here are my boots

I spend a lot of time in these boots and I love them, not a traditional type 'english' boot as they have fairly thick soles.

I will have a look into the ariat ropers, but still not sure if I could do the required running in them, boots are really hard as you don't get to try on a lot of the western type boots over here.

black ariats would be fine - i like the lace up ones that go right up and around the ankle. or just use english joddie boots for halter if you have them, and buy ariats for riding. just remember though that crepe soles aren't really acceptable for halter classes.
