BR Dinner 2006/11/26 20:44 Karma: 6
Sad to see a poor turnout at the BR Dinner this year

I know there are a lot of issues out there at the moment and needless to say that these will not resolve that easily, however people on both sides of the fence were missing.

I hope that there is an upturn for next year and we can start to see people come together united in support of a great sport.

Can the council pre-empt a move to resolve issues locally?

We had hoped to get down there for the dinner but we had a show on here at our place today (Sunday), so we were unable to attend.
It is a shame to hear that it was a pooor turn out.
As far as addressing isues locally, it could be put to council!
What are your views / ideas?

I think it would be nice to see a meeting of people with views on both sides of the arguement. There obviously needs to be some concessions made to enable us to move forward. It would be good for the gun loaders to come out and openly declare their positions so that there are no hidden agendas.

This sport is way too small to continue with fractous eliments.

A little bit out of it here but...

What issues? Please enlighten the rest of us so that we may understand your comments.

Um hope im not speaking out of turn.. I think the main problem refered to is that personal disagrements are getting in the way of the running of things, and solving serious problems like sorting out riding surfaces/venues seems to be taking a back seat..

To clarify a few things: We have launched an Appeal with the BEF over "How the reining team was selected for WEG" and we have asked "What was the selection process?" so that we all know for next time. This is the main issue that is causing a division in BR.

The BR Newsletter outlined the fact that there is an Appeal going on, brought about by David Gray and in it Carol Gatt (Chairperson), states that she "doesn't know what he hopes to achieve from this". Well what he hopes to achieve from it is a fair selection process for anyone who wants to compete for their country. Owners, competitors, trainers... We just want it to be fair and transparent.

We have had so much support but obviously I cannot go into details as yet. The Appeal is pending. (we are waiting for BR Council to come back from the Futurities before they can give us another date. It was all booked up for tommorrow (30th November) and then 2 weeks ago they cancelled as they are in Oaklahoma. We have no idea when they can make it so we are now waiting for a new date.

I must stress that this Appeal has not been brought about because David Gray was disappointed at not being selected for the team. It is because we have no idea how the team was selected, what the criteria was and how the hell anyone is supposed to make the British Team in the future.

Anyway, this has now been hanging over us for 5 months now so we hope that it will be sorted out soon.
