American saddles 2006/12/06 22:51 Karma: 1
We've just got a quarter horse for Husband (but I will ride as well!) and need a saddle. I have a circle Y part synthetic which is brillian but the place we got it from has sadly closed down.
Has anybody had any experience on importing from America? The western saddlers here seem to be having a laugh regarding prices.
Thanks for any help.

i have got a saddle from America that we bidded for off ebay and it's a cheap badly made uncomfortable saddle. We thought we were getting a bargain as it looked really nice and the discription sounded great but we were very disappointed so be careful... i also have a good expensive one that i had fitted by a western saddler 3 years ago but she's not in the country at the moment and nobody seems to no when or if she's coming back!I don't think my saddle fit's my mare now but not willing to sell it just yet until i have that confirmed by a saddler and then hopefully be able to use it as p/x... There seems to be a shortage of western saddlers down here in the south,i know of one gent but i'm afraid i cant afford thousands for a saddle!! I've had an English saddle fitted and she's going well but i had the choice of so many to choose from and one said if i thick pad my saddle then it shouldn't be a problem should it!!! I wont do that..

Hi as everybody knows any western saddle will fit any horse.... well on ebay anyway a good saddle will cost, a good western tack shop should make sure
it fits your horse and you. hopefully the price will soon be forgotten
OH importing yes about $100+ for shipping and then when it arives the postman will collect VAT and duty and a handling charge then you can see if it fits your horse
Hope this helps....
