Before that thread goes off to far on the wrong tangent.
BR were trying to encouage this as a concept for 'owners to syndicate' to help the promotion of the sport, not for BR to hold the syndicate.

I think realy we should be investing in the sport here ,it looks like david Deptfords new arena is going to be great and suitable for reining and is a very positive step in the right direction but the big show venues towerlands, arena uk, ect arent suitable for western .. so whats the point in promoting reining if thers not many shows where we can slide in this country,  we need a syndicate to buy a arena not a horse,  8)

Re: Syndicate and Surfaces 2006/12/24 12:22 Karma: 5
I may be able to help here also with a bit more info:

Tracy Haynes (AQHA Show Manager) has been campaining hard for some time now on the surfaces issue and has had some great succes so far especially with 'Hand Equestrian Centre' near Bristol Airport. Apparently they have agreed to build a new Western arena with a suitable surface to accomodate the Reining community. I think that this is a major step forwards and she should be congratulated for all her efforts. (they have emphasised that they will need the support of adequate useage) There is a strong possibility that the Breed Show will be held there '07)

Added to this, the Sternberg facility at Bodium is being totally re-developed with a huge new indoor Reining arena.

The Kent Showground (which is huge) has had plans passed for development as an Equestrian Centre and there is considerable 'influence' from some of the members that are involved in the project for it to be Western/Reining friendly.

There is also a new initiative on the table for a 480 acre site in the West Midlands to re-developed as 'Horse World'. Outline plans are still a little 'vague' but considerable pressure is being aimed at the project to once again be reiner friendly.
The possibilities from this are stronger considering the 'Chosen Developer'. is an active reining competitor.

Hope this creates a little more light at the end of the tunnel and to further hope that people keep supportting reining/BR. (there really is a lot going on !!).

Going a bit off topic here, but while you are talking about surfaces...read in Scottish Equestrian magazine that there are going to be western shows at the new Oatridge (Scottish Equestion Centre) so presuming that the surface there will be good once it's finished?? There was talk of trying to get WEG here so western/reining will have been taken into consideration?

Reining Surfaces? A slightly different Topic, but an important one.

Moving back for a moment, I did not intend for BR to be the syndicate, but to perhaps promote the idea to its membership.

On reining surfaces the more the merrier. However usage is ultimately dictate the long term future. Infrastructure will always catch up demand, so we need to increase demand. There were huge novice reining classes at the WES Champs, this is the same year on year. I also know that there a great deal more would be reiners out there if the right motivation were available for them to join a friendly welcoming organisation that encourages newcomers and supports the novice community.

Instead of arguing selection lets get these people on board, swell the number of reiners increase entry level participation and in turn convince venues that there is a market for Western Riding and Reining in the UK (Including Scotland )

The syndicate idea was one to try give the less well off an opportunity to see the fun side of owning good quality horses. I am going to buy the horse that I have been looking at (in fact Ive already shook on the deal) if anyone wants to buy a share then please contact me (however small or large a share that can be afforded). I am lucky enough to own a couple of good reining prospects and I know how it feels to have them as part of my life. I am looking forward to 2008 when I hope to be competing a horse in the states and my two reiners in this country will be of good maturity. Although due to a tough business year I have to rein back (Pun) spending on sponsorships, I hope to be back supporting Youth and International events for 2008. During 2007, I hope to offer time in place of cash and will offer my assistance to any worthwhile projects to promote Western. Note for anyone that thinks I am reining barmy (which I am), I also have a superb allaround horse, that I will be competing in Pleasure, Trail, Horsemanship and Western Riding (admittedly not that well as these disciplines are a lot harder than they look).

Can I bid everyone A Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2007. I cant wait to get back out there and can I remind the reiners in absence of a decent surface There are eight maneuvers, lest have fun, life really is too short.
