When I first got into reining, the problem in this Country was that there were two distinct camps.

The newly renamed BR which was the official BEF representative and UK Reining which primarily dealt with NRHA. Originally both these organisations were one until a split up occured.

The main topic at the time was that a merger was needed to take Reining forward, this became such a heated debate, involving distrust within both organisations that resulted in BR members taking action to resolve the merger issue and bring BEF and NRHA together under one roof.

At this juncture I must state that I have no particular bias to either the original BR council or the existing one and furthermore I will openly state that I was not a supporter of the actions taken. I do believe however that every effort should be made to progress and that it is necessary for Reiners to be governed by Reiners and to this end I will always try to assist the current body and keep my own preferences for a vote at AGM's etc.

There is a real risk at the moment of a new organisation evolving with the main intention to secure the BEF relationship. This organisation, possibly supported by established Western or Breed Societies, could potentially suceed in acheiving this.

One of the main points of agreement has always been that there should be only one British body for Reining, the main arguement seems to be over who should run this organisation.

So where are we now BR could lose the BEF relationship, New Co comes along and takes control (BR are now the NRHA affilliate), lets call New Co UK Reining just as the old UK Reining was called. This is just a complete reversal of the position of a couple of years ago.

I propose that all the people out there that genuinely want Reining to progress, instead of investing your time trying to de-stabilise the current BR through dissent, fill out election council requests send them to me, I will propose them, they can be seconded by another BR member, if elected you can then promote your ideas. Lets get this organisation into shape instead of trying to build something new.
