Hey guys, I'm 18years old and I live in the UK, I am really hooked on western riding yet I've never tried it as a professional sport. My main focus has previously been on classical dressage, and I trained to a high level in that department and now I'm keen to try something new. I am pretty familiar with the aids and tack etc but can anyone reccomend any sites to give me more information on this sport? Thanks guys! xXx

hi there and welcome. well you have made a good start by coming onto the forum. have a look at the links page and you'll find lots of info. also come along to shows and watch and meet lots of friendly folk.

WES is usually recommended as the best starting point because it is an all-breed society and holds shows and clinics in many locations and has a list of approved trainers. take a look at www.wes-uk.com There is a calendar of events on the "Whats On" page plus list of area representatives. There are a couple of big shows coming up - this weekend at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, plus the 3 Day WES Championships at Moreton Morrell,Warwickshire in August. Both of these would be really good shows to visit and to meet people. WES is good value at £25 per year to join.
