what sort of boots? if they are professional choice front boots, then i just hose my down to get all the grit out and it seems to do the job.

Leave to dry and brush off if possible or hose.
I occasionmally put pro choice boots in the washing machine and they come up really well, but don't do it too often as the straps wear out more quickly.
