Trailers 2008/06/23 22:19 Karma: 3
Ive been wondering if its worth getting a camper van and towing a trailer instead of my lorry?? there seems to be some nice trailers avalable now, yes i know some of the bigger ones from europe arn't legal over here ( too wide ) I liked the bateson and regret selling mine, but would have liked more storage space in it.. the ultimate would be a american gooseneck
but there just about impossible to get fully legal for UK use ie too wide wrong brakes, weight etc....

seriously looking at vito and trailer or something like a Winniebago Rialta (based on a VW imported from Japan).

Until then just keep roughing it.

I believe the Vito can go up to 2500kg.

I am also looking at pimpng my own vehicle, save a packet. Perhaps upgrade my Bateson for a Titan or a Fautras

I would suggest you talk to the guys with goosenecks. Chester has had one for over 10 yrs and Terry who has a fab rig and truck which will blow you away, also Lester has a gooseneck all very helpful and approachable. They were at East Coast this weekend.
Electrics can be converted here or in States

Hope this helps

Be careful, if the van is loaded, even with fittings for living, you will reduce its towing capacity, and some will then require you to use a tachograph.

So check this out thorougly. There are some nice van based horseboxes out there, but are expensive.

Trailer wise, i have an equitrek space treker, which i like very much loads of storage. But am changing this to an Ifor, or a Rice as I dont need the space and its not going anywhere at the moment!

Nice 2 yo Equitrek trailer for sale, any body interested?
