Ok to show in? 2008/05/11 13:20 Karma: 0
I am thinking into the future a bit here, but when my filly is old enough (shes 10 months at the moment) I would like to show her in some reining and western show classes, I have a lovely western treeless saddle, but would it be suitable to show in?
If not I better start saving for a Bob Marshall now! lol

Here is a picture of the saddle on my gelding, my filly is a few spot part bred appy.

and the only real picture I have of me sitting in the saddle, but it has a seat saver on

What do you think? its a more workman like saddle, would I need more bling, or would I be marked down as it doesn't look 'western' enough?

Thats a very nice looking saddle , what make is it ? From what little I know the saddle will be acceptable for wes classes etc so long as it has a horn. Im sure there are more knowledgeable than I,who will be able to help you.
Good luck

Its a Startrekk Western saddle, which I imported from Germany, very nice saddle, and really adjustable, only trouble is getting a replacement pommel for it to make it wider for my gelding, as no one seems to want to sell me one

Have u tried Better saddles, they stock Startrek saddles and are based in this country. They have a website, just google it.

As for showing, its fine, nice looking saddle.Dont worry about the bling! No amount of glitz, will place you above a nice horse, going well!Concentrate on the schooling and dont forget to enjoy yourself.

Thank you, ive tried better saddles, they said they would get back to me and never did!
Ive also tried the company itself and a few other suppliers in Europe and one in America, no one has the size I need.

Its good to know I can use it, as its a lovely saddle.

hi, have you thought about talking to someone like Shane Borland or Bruce Lawrence about your saddle. They both train reiners and aren't too far from you and would give you advice.
