How to attach a latigo (with only two holes) 2008/07/04 22:06 Karma: 0
Hello,

Could anyone please enlighten me how the heck does one tie a latigo to the saddle when there are only two holes, rather than the more usual 3?

I found a great website showing you how to do it with 3 holes:
http://www.western-saddle-guide.com/attach-a-latigo.html

Duly took off old latigo, taking no notice how it was tied, got out new latigo and to my horror found I need a tying method that only needs 2 holes.

Ooops.

Yours in grateful anticipation.....

Hello Elkay,
How about punching another hole in your latigo, & making it a 3 hole.... if you re really stuck,

Mornin!
Funnily enough the same solution did occur to me when I was standing the patio door mulling over things in my head (as you do) when let the dogs out for a wee at 5am this morning!

Only hesitation being how easy is it to seal the edges of a hole punched in nylon without setting the thing on fire!

Hi Again,
Yes I see your point, I was thinking that it was a leather one!!!
OOh do be carefull,
You can buy a little heat gun from a boat chandlers, we got one as my husband makes the rope halters, & its used to seal the ends, but by the time you have gone to all that trouble, you will have proberly worked out how to tie it!!!!!!!!!

Hi Elkay, Try using an old metal knitting needle and heating it up. It will seal the hole as you push it through. Get it nice and hot though. Knitting needle will be no good afterwards lol
