Circle work is now coming along really well, I have concentrated on getting Pee Wee to have some self carriage. At the moment he will hold his frame for several strides then revert to a less desirable strung out lope. He really is starting to get the idea and I manage to pop in a few lead changes without any drama.
This horse is very switched on and quite a quick learner, out of all the horses I ahve at the moment he is the one I feel is acheiving results.
Did some fencing working with him, nothing too heavy. He kept nice and straight without trying to duck out. He really is quite good at this and stops very correct, cant wait to get him onto to a decent surface.
The one problem I have encountered this week is that he started to try and back when applying the left leg at a standstill. A bit of reverse phycology applied (backing him around a circle whilst maintaining the same amount of pressure) and he soon left that idea back in the stable.
Planning to continue circle work (maybe add a bit more speed), same level of fencing (not pushing too hard), I will introduce a lot more back up work. I am leaving spins at the moment as he turns around quite quickly. I will step up the spin work nearer the show season.
