I have decided to start a blog on preparing Pee Wee (PW Chex) for 2007 show season. Pee Wee is a five year old Buck Skin by Nu Chex to Cash. He is a super little horse although quite green.

I will try and update this on a week by week basis, but to give you an idea of where we are at right now...

Pee Wee arrived in June this year, he was somewhat greener than we had first anticipated. His main issues are of resentment to leg pressure, which also cause him to overreact during lead changes. He now has two good speeds in his circle work and stops well when asked. He backs really well and can cope backing around circles easily.

The next few weeks we will concentrate on relaxing him during lead changes and will strip this right back to the basics. I feel at the moment it is more important to let him get the change without bucking or kicking than reining him back. If runs out of the change I will just stop him and let him rest for getting the change right without argument.
