30TH
AUG - 2ND
SEPT, HARTPURY COLLEGE, GLOS
The
9th
European Working Equitation Championships will take place on 31st
August – 2nd
September at Hartpury College, Gloucester. This will be the first
time the Championships have been held in the UK.
Working
Equitation is a 4 phase competition – dressage, obstacles, speed
and cattle penning – aimed at bringing the skills of riding in the
field into the confines of the modern competition arena. Riders from
Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Belgium and Great Britain will
contest the individual and team titles.
The
dressage, obstacles and speed phases will be held in the newly
constructed International Arena at Hartpury College. The cattle
penning test will attract particular attention and will take place at
Llandinabo Court, Hereford, the home of Mr & Mrs Symonds,
well-known breeders of pedigree Hereford cattle.
The
weekend at Hartpury College will also host the Iberian Performance
Show (1st & 2nd
September) which will bring over 150 Spanish horses, Portuguese
Lusitanos and Lipizzaners together for a range of equitation and
dressage classes, and the Entertainment/Closing Ceremony for the
Working Equitation Championships ( 2nd
September 3.00pm).
