Human First Aid - Appointed Person Course With Andy Ormston Pa Cert Ed Dip PCS MiFL
Paramedic/ Emergency Care Practitioner/ Clinical Lecturer
Why this is so important ?
In the instance where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a trained First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement in law is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements. Employers must appoint a person for this purpose. This person is known as an appointed person and that person needs to have attended and passed a nationally recognised training course. Most equestrian facilities need to appoint their first aider and this course is ideal for individuals in the equestrian industry who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid. The course includes and addresses common problems encountered in yard, show and training environments.

The day course consists of practical and theory work covering legalities, responsibilities and reporting, as well as assessing the situation, dealing with an unconscious casualty, resuscitation, heart attacks, choking, control of bleeding, fractures, burns, shock, head injuries, spinal injuries, falls, hypothermia and bruising.

Students will be assessed throughout the whole course and if successful awarded their certification. This qualification is valid for 3 years.

The courses will take place at the Mendip Stud on Thursday 27th March and Thursday the 25th June
