SUERRA QUARTER HORSES AND PAINTS

Beautiful horses with beautiful minds.

Welcome to my small family of horses in the heart of Roman Wall country in Northumberland. I have been breeding horses for over 30 years, as a hobby, but only discovered Quarter Horses in 1989 when one was shown at a local stallion parade. They epitomised everything I had been trying to breed so, in 1990, I bought Skipchipadee Stacy , a 2 year old by Zero Skipkeo, who had just passed her first Premium grading. Since then I have bred several purebred QHs from Stacy and partbred QHs from my TB mare. When the latter died in 2004 I decided to fulfil a dream and add some colour into my programme. After months of searching , I eventually purchased 2 Paint mares from Canada thanks to Joanne Boon of the Roslin Stud. All the horses have good pedigrees with a combination of multi-discipline world champions and working ranch horses. This gives me the ability to produce good-looking, all round performers with sensible minds suitable for all levels of riders. The foals are all handled daily from birth, taught good manners and given extensive groundwork training.

MY FAMILY

BH A Summers Sarah (Sarah)     BH Breezn Black Panda x Mindy McCue     DNA Tested Ee aa TT
Sarah is a 2003, 15hh, black, homozygous tobiano mare with many multi-disciple world champions, including A Summer Breeze, Buck McCue and Blue Fisher, on her papers. She was imported in foal from Canada in 2005 and produced a stunning colt in 2006 who has been sold to an eventing home. He is now standing at around 15.1hh. at 2 years old. Sarah is currently in foal to Toys Triple Chick, a homozygous dun QH, due early June 2008.

CS Quincys Ichibonbel (Q)     Oreo Icecream x CS Quincys Ragtimegal     DNA Tested EE Aa TT Gg
Q is a 2002,15.1hh, grey, homozygous tobiano mare. She is also homozygous for the black gene so will never produce 'red' foals. Although she has a 50% chance of passing on the grey gene she has not yet done so. She has A Summer Breeze and Dixies War Drum on her top line and Quincy Dan and the TB, Nasrullah on her bottom line. Q was also imported in foal, along with Sarah, from the Bigfoot Ranch, Alberta, in 2005 and produced Jazz in 2006 - see below.
She has just produced a beautiful dun and white filly foal - see below and photo gallery.

Jazz in the Breeze (Jazz) d.o.b. 25.5.06     BH Breezn Black Panda x CS Quincys Ichibonbel     DNA Tested EE aa TT

Jazz is homozygous for the tobiano gene and the black gene. She is almost 15hh as a 2 year old. She is a very affectionate filly and is proving easy to train. May be for sale at a later date. Contact me if interested.

Skipchipadee Stacy (Stacy)     Zero Skipkeo x Mountain Evita
Stacy is the foundation mare of my stud. She was born 1988 and I have had her since she was 2 years old. She is a Premium QH mare and has had a very successful, albeit short, showing career at both county and national level. At her first Breed Show she was champion mare, champion brood mare, champion premium mare and her first foal was champion foal. At her second Breed Show she was again champion broodmare and her second foal was again champion. Stacy has the most amazing temperament and has passed this, and her trainability, onto all her foals. We have learnt Western together and she has been ridden inbetween foals. Due to a knee injury which has become arthritic she is no longer rideable and lately has acted as granny to all the foals.

Stacy - how rude!

Filly foal   d.o.b. 19.4.08   Toys Triple Chick x CS Quincy's Ichibonbel     DNA Tested EE Aa Tt Dndn

What a beautiful girl! A Dun Paint with just enough white to make her really striking and unique.Wait until her legs shed out to black and she will be stunning! Judging by her size now she should make well over 15hh. Although she is only minimally white, she does carry the tobiano gene and is also homozygous for the black factor so she will never produce a 'red' foal. All this + her dun factor will make her a very useful breeding prospect for the future. She is for sale and will be available at weaning. A deposit will secure. POA
