MARES AND THEIR OFFSPRING

Stallions/Home Page   Sales Page   My Story

~ Riding Progamme ~
All our mares were originally riding horses and so any that although bred, do not conceive
by 1st August, we like to see them do their other job - riding! We are keeping Melba out of the
breeding programme as she is proving such a poppet to lead rein our 4 year old son's palomino
Shetland off, so that is one and we have our daughter's Paint x TB x Quarter Horse mare spare!

We have one superb volunteer - Val Harris who helps every weekday morning
and rides any time she likes as a Thankyou.

We are looking for a general handyman who would like to, or work for his wife/child to, ride
or learn to ride (English or Western) in return for his services. A good sense of humour is really
the only qualification we are looking for - every thing else we can teach!!!

QUEST FANCY FLASH (aka Flicka)

American Quarter Horse, imported parents -
Tempest Flash and My Fancy Bobby.
KING/THREE CHICKS/IMPRESSIVE bloodlines.
Competed in Pleasure, Trail and Halter.

Bred to Chex for a repeat performance foal in 2008!

In 07 (after an 11 year break!) she presented us with a gorgeous buckskin colt foal (Chino) by Chex.

BUENA VISTA BREEZE (aka Breeze)

Bred by Walt Disney World Trail Horse Ranch, Florida and in work there until aged
10 when we bought her, put her in foal to a Champion QH and flew her home!
See the result below - a lovely mare named Skips Disney Doll.

Bred to Tyson for a 2008 baby.

ALIAS HASTA (aka Alice)

Bred to Tyson for a 2008 baby.
Appaloosa mare, imported aka Alice
Sire: Alias Smith & Jones
Dam: Hasta La Bye Bye

Pleasure mare

The 'white Ap' appearing in this pedigree denotes Few-Spot markings, which is really a
white horse with very, very few spots (guaranteed colour producer), like our stallion
Exbury Ghost. Unusually for many horse folk, the ApHC call a white horse white, not grey!

Alice has quite a few relations in the
Appaloosa Hall of Fame

In 07 she foaled a blanket spotted colt with blaze and socks by Ty, to be retained for our
disabled rider programme.

In 06 she foaled a supeb filly, Sugar, sired by Raini, with striking blaze and has been sold to
Mary Court, another local sale.

In 05 she foaled a very loud blanket spotted colt by Raini, who we have kept and Clive hopes
to train to perfection as his very own riding horse.... ho hummmm, I promise not to
sell him Clive, Darling.......

In 04 Alice foaled a bright bay colt, sired by Raini, named Jacy by the new owners, Nina and Richard
who have taken him with them to their new home in France. Jacy is now in training with a trainer
in France who employs the John Lyons methods - superb!

In 2003 Alice foaled a stunning dun blanket-spot colt by Exbury Ghost. Backed and trained by Clive
and sold to Mary Stephens, another local sale.

In 2000 she foaled a black blanket spot colt, Fox, sired by Amazing Blue and now sold to
Sue Grahame, a local sale.

Her 07 smoky black colt with blaze and socks (Rook) sired by Hammy is to be retained
for our disabled rider training programme.

Her 05 chestnut filly, Bo, has been sold to Karyn Thorn of Poole and been sent away to finish her
ridden training to Shane Borland.

Dunny's Pedigree

MISS ALITO JAG (ALITO)

American Paint Horse, imported.
JETALITO/SCOTCH BAR TIME bloodlines.
Competition points in halter, hunter under saddle and western.

Bred to Tyson for a 2008 baby.

In 07 she foaled a super sorrel frame overo colt (Rustler) who is being retained for our
disabled rider programme.

She was kept out of the breeding programme in 06.

Her 05 colt foal, Chevvy, has sold to Julie of Farwinds Stud near
Salisbury where he will stand at stud with her other two
stallions. Good luck at HOYS Julie!
(Very sadly Chevvy had to be put down due to poisoning. How sad for us all.)

Her 04 filly foal, Sierra, sold to Sheila Fitzpatrick.
This filly is already wowwing them at all the shows -
At her first show she came second
out of a class of older mares and was awarded
Reserve Champion Mare! Wow! We knew she was good.....
(Sierra has now been sold on to Elaine
and is trained and shown by Tanya Rowe).

Her 03 foal, imported in utero, sadly for us, was not a loud overo like Lyle in the photo below,
but just plain chestnut! Oh well, that's the 50% gamble for overo you take!!!

Her 02 chestnut frame overo colt (Mr Lyle Love Hint), bred by and foaled in Canada by
Meadowhill Stables and purchased and imported by Sharon Hutley has been sold to
David Deptford of Sovereign Quarter Horses

Alito was imported in foal to HPH Colorful HInt, having noticed her photo on the internet with
a beautiful foal at foot by this same sire (see baby Lyle in photo) and we were hoping to get just
as much colour when she foaled.

This American Paint mare flew into Heathrow on 6th December 2002 from
Canada. When she foaled in May of 2003, were not lucky enough to have a gorgeously
painted foal like Lyle, but we have the genetics! in Lotti (see below), to breed us
some lovely Paints and she has indeed, by presenting us with her first foal in 07, a loud
frame overo by Hammy our homozygous black and white overo Paint stud.

QUEST HINT OF ALITO (aka Lotti)

Bred to Hammy for a 2008 baby.

CLASSIC BLK ORCHID (CLASSY)

Not bred to foal in 2008. To enter a refresher reining training programme

American Paint mare, was due from Utah via Los Angeles airport in California
(just missed the fires!) on 29th October 03 but did not arrive until 7th November
due to contracting shipping fever. She started to show symptoms of this lung and
chest cavity infection while waiting at a Horse Hotel in Amsterdam, near the airport.
Quick administration of antibiotics halted the disease's progress and she was ready
to travel back to England 3 days later - only problem was that the transport was not
due back that way for a whole week!

BOSTON MAC bloodlines.

Competition points in reining.

This mare was purchased from The Painted Moose in the USA and the foal she was carrying
when imported is by their stud (now sadly gelded and sold on,
MR SMOKEN VALENTINE a SMOKE N COTTON offspring.
Click to visit The Painted Moose Ranch in Oklahoma (they have moved)

Her first foal with us after import in 2004, a black overo colt who we have found, after genetic testing
to be homozygous for the black gene, which means he cannot sire a chestnut even when
bred to a chestnut mare, the resulting foal would usually be bright bay and so we
are keeping him as a stallion in our own breeding programme.

Her 05 bright bay colt foal by Hes An Imprinted Star has been sold to
Martine near Southampton.

QUEST FANCY FIREFLY (TARRY or TAZ)

Bred to Chex for a 2008 baby

Quarter Horse homebred mare out of
Quest Fancy Flash (see above) by Arabis Firedancer

Her first foal in 02, Luna, by our few-spot Appaloosa stallion, is a stunning strawberry
roan with white spots and splashs and was sold to Arianne Barendse,
where apparently, she is the envy of the polo yard next door!

Her red leopard spot 04 colt, Fluke is still for sale.

Her 05 chestnut filly, Lolly with snowflakes starting on rump is still for sale.

Look at the Sales Page where this mare's full brother Quest Sundance Kid
can be seen (now sold).

She is full sister to our stallion Quest Raindance Man.

SKIPS DISNEY DOLL (JESS)

Bred to Tyson for a 2008 baby

Her first foal in 2002, Ace, was sold to Gabbi Mitchell in Warwick of the
Golden Triangle Stud but he sadly died of a massive growth in his gut in 2004.

Her 03 foal, Teddy, was sold to Marianne who is showing him in the UK
and doing very well.

Her 04 colt foal, Choclat, we are so happy, has gone to Gabbi Mitchell of Triangle Stud.
Gabbi had been so taken with Ace and his attitude that she has come back and bought
his full brother. Choclat will take over the stud duties of his full brother.

Hopefully Choclat will help ease the pain of Ace's death, but I know Gabbi will
never forget him.

Quarter Horse USA bred mare out of our mare
Buena Vista Breeze (see above) by USA Champion Skips R Dandy.

TEMPESTS LAST DANCE (Phoenix)

Bred to Hammy for a 2008 baby

Her blanket spot 04 colt foal, Rocky, has been sold to Karen Pugh here in Verwood.
Karen plans to get back into dressage when Rocky is a big boy - he will wow them!

Her 05 colt foal, Spud, who is chestnut with socks and a blaze and a
snowflake blanket has been sold to Martin of Southampton.

Her 06 smoky black filly has been sold to Donna MacKenzie, another local sale.

Quarter Horse homebred mare,
out of our mare Tempest Flash by Arabis Firedancer.

Half sister to Quest Fancy Flash (see first mare) as they have Tempest Flash as mum.
Half sister to Quest Fancy Firefly (see above) and Quest Raindance Man (see Stallions Page)
and Quest Sundance Kid (see Sales Page) as they all have Arabis Firedancer as dad!
What a family tree we weave!!

Sadly, in 2002 when Phoenix (as we call her) was in foal for the first time to Exbury Ghost,
she aborted 5 months into the pregnancy. The Herpes virus was ruled out after tests on
the foetus at Newmarket - just very unlucky said the vet!

Although Melba (as we call her) has only been shown in Halter, her first foal born in 1992,
Quest Powhatan Maid, was sold as a weanling and seems to have quite a varied show career from the
results we have read over the years! Congratulations to all those successful competitors.

In 04 Melba presented us with a superb painted colt foal, Harley - wow, he is superb!
Harley has been backed and proved a super cool customer and sold to Kerry and Darren in
Verwood and kept with us on the farm.

In 05 Melba produced a gorgeous filly with socks and a blaze, Tink, sold to Judi in the New Forest.

In 06 Melba produced another gorgeous filly with socks, blaze and sabino speckling, Pippi,
sold to Sam, also in the New Forest, where she has gone to work their Charolais cattle! Go
get em Pippi!
